Lawrence Carroll

In Lawrence Carroll's three-dimensional paintings, everyday objects and materials, folded canvases, wallpaper, old shoes, newspapers, pieces of wood, have been recovered to be transposed into the abstract time of his work. While preserving the memory of the objects, leaving visible the traces of their history, the artist has slowly superimposed layers of paint – oils and acrylics in warm white tones, with rare splashes of color – covering them with a new layer of wax or allowing the original texture of the material to emerge from the thin layers of color and paint, and offer recognizable, yet always new spaces, within which the viewer can freely wander.
